Disney has been so keen on live action remakes these days, it’s hard to keep up! You have Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and so many more in rumor or pre-production. (Last we heard of a film based off of Aladdin‘s Genie.) One remake that has been not getting the same amount of hype, is Pete’s Dragon.

Just released last night, was the preview of the upcoming film, garnishing rave reviews.

New trailer:

Original 1977 trailer:

Seems Disney is going for a darker film in their reboot. The company previously stated their 2016 version will not be a musical.

We will surely miss that aspect of the film…but it will leave us less teary eyed.

It’ll always burn Paul! It’ll always burn!

What everyone is most anticipating in this reboot, is the special effects. In the 1977 version Elliot the dragon was animated. Now with our 2016 technology, we can’t wait to see with CGI and computer animation what this incredible dragon will be!

The remake stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, and Oona Laurence and has an August 12, 2016 release date.
